Talkestra education

Talkestra can create education projects for schools and colleges, however big or small, to suit your needs and according to the syllabus requirements of OCR, AQA and Edexcel under their Talkestra Tailor-Made scheme.

Composition Workshops
Talkestra's composition workshops, led by Steve Dummer, are a great way to develop confidence in composition. A typical made-to-measure project can include a session working on the initial stages of starting a piece including

• coming up with initial ideas
• developing ideas
• how to maximise the potential of the instruments

A follow-up session with Talkestra's players will allow the composer to explore further the many ways of using the instruments of the ensemble with the help of top professional musicians. Any combination of instruments can used according to your requirements.

All pieces can be recorded by Talkestra. Unfortunately we are unable to supply recording equipment.

Set Works
Talkestra can create a 'concert' of selected set works from the syllabuses of AQA, Edexcel and OCR according to your needs and budget. Among the aspects we can explore are

• the background to the music
• it's formal construction
• it's harmonic language
• it's context within the history of music

Many of the set works are scored for large orchestra (e.g. Mahler's 4th Symphony, Beethoven's 1st Symphony) but we can offer many of them in reduced orchestrations to keep costs to a minimum.
